Large school in area of significant deprivation within the borough of Tower Hamlets. Most pupils live in surrounding high rise flats. The school has a deaf unit which caters for 26 children with moderate or profound hearing impairments. About 80% of the 450 children on roll are eligible for free school meals which is way above average. This is a lovely school that took part last year and would love to take part again.
Project: Volunteers are needed to clear the school gardens and grounds. Tasks include: removing weeds, leaves, branches and other debris; turn over earth in unplanted flower beds. The areas which require the most work are the memorial garden, the foundation stage garden and playground and the gardens and car park which surrounds the north side of the building. Planting of appropriate plants and shrubs would also be very welcome.
